I have been making jewelry for over a decade. I have always been creative and enjoy using my hands to create beautiful things. I get my creativity from my mom and grandma. When I was growing up I observed them making things and using their hands. Whenever my grandmother would go to her classes at the senior center she would teach me the things she learned how to make. When she taught me how to make jewelry I instantly took a liking to it. I have always been interested in fashion and creating different looks. I liked to make pieces to match my outfits. The more i made things like necklaces, bracelets and earrings I would get compliments on them. A few years later I started hosting my annual shows to sell my pieces to other people.
I get inspiration from magazines, television and film. When I look at beads, pendants and charms I imagine what it could be and how it would look whit other things. My favorite places to look for materials are, Michaels and Hobby Lobby. They have a great selection of beads and materials at affordable prices. I enjoy going to the International Gem and Jewelry show when it comes to town every few months. I also like to shop at a bead store called May's beads on the southwest side of town. The gem show and mays has beads that are very unique and have great quality.
The pieces on my website are one of a kind and have their own distinct look. Some of them can be replicated while others can't. When I handcraft my pieces I want to make something that no one else has. Some people like to stand out from the crowd and wear something that represents who they are. Jewelry by Sable is all about being different and expressing yourself. Nobody wants to walk to an outing with friends or to a party just to see another person wearing the same necklace as you.
We also represent inclusivity and my business motto is jewelry for all generations. I created the website five years ago with just my necklaces hanging on the black velvet forms. A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to make some changes to the website and have models wear the jewelry. I want people who visit my website to get an idea of how the pieces look with someone wearing them. When I first created my pieces they were originally made for women. However when i was selecting the pictures to go on the website I realized that men can wear them as well. That is why I came up with my men's collection. When you read the descriptions of some of my pieces you can see that they say that particular piece can be worn by both men and women.
